Many risk their lives, traveling in makeshift boats to attempt to escape from their homes and find a better life elsewhere only to be stopped by coast guards and turned away. Often they do not survive these journeys, their boats get wrecked in turbulent weather, they can get lost at sea, they run out of supplies, they often die at sea.
