According to World Health Organisation, 1.6 million people die every year from diarrhoeal diseases (including cholera) attributable to lack of access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation and 90% of these are children under 5, mostly in developing countries. Contaminated water is a haven for all kinds of diseases which makes it all the more important for people to have access to clean and safe water so as to prevent the spread of diseases and consequently prevent deaths as well.
